Uncomfortably Brown is a platform that shares uncomfortable truths, rants, and stories about what it means to be a South Asian living in any part of the world. We are a teeny tiny team consisting of only two people, hoping to create a hub where anyone who identifies as desi can write about the joys, triumphs, insecurities, and losses in their lives.
If you want to be a contributor, we encourage you to share the human side of your story and how your cultural upbringing shapes the values you hold and the experiences you have. Your opinions, how you see life, and what you hold dear mean the most to us.
As South Asians, whether we live abroad or at home, our culture and societal norms make it difficult to openly share our deepest insecurities.
Uncomfortably Brown is a platform where your insecurities and discomforts are not only shared, but we hope they are also celebrated. We hope that on this platform, you can do this without worrying too much. Most importantly, you are not alone. Your story is relatable to someone else. That person can take comfort in knowing they are not alone.
If you’re stumbling onto UB for the first time, please keep in mind that without you, we cannot grow. So please help our teeny tiny operation get off the ground by dropping comments, subscribing, and sharing. We thank all of our contributors and our fans for their support.
DISCLAIMER: These stories are editorials, and hence, fictional by nature. Many of our contributors do not feel comfortable sharing the whole fact-checked truth about their lives and we respect that. This is why a lot of our posts are anonymous. We truly believe one should be able to write and share about their lives in whichever way they please. Everyone of us has a unique voice and we want our contributors to share their experiences based on how they live it. Sharing our truth, the way we see, think, and feel things is a freedom we all should have.
